VEGAN & ECO FRIENDLY !
Try the Banana Fibre Yarn for something that's a little out of the ordinary!
All our Banana Fibre is made from the sustainable fibres that are scraped from the bark of a banana tree and hand spun by women's co-ops in India, our vibrant Banana Fibre Yarn is a great choice for anything from weaving a rug to knitting a hat!
And don't be scared by the word "fibre," because there is nothing scratchy about this yarn at all. After harvesting the fibres from the trunk of the banana tree, they are put through a softening process that makes the fibre very similar to silk.
Then when it's spun, it is as soft as silk - soft and strong, full of texture, colour, and bio-degradable so it's
Suitable for Knitting, Crocheting, Weaving, Jewellery making, Mixed Media. Just about anything really !
Price shown is per skein, Each 100g skein yields approximately 70m of Banana Fibre hand spun inyarn, with the exception of the new Lace Weight Undyed Banana Fibre which is approximately 550m per 100g skein.
The standard weight Banana Fibre weight can vary between Aran/Chunky as they are handspun in different co-operatives. I suggest using needles 5.5mm-8mm or Hooks 6.5mm-9mm depending on the project you are working on. On the whole, with the exception of the Kaleidoscope Banana Fibre, The multi-coloured variants are a Chunky weight and the solid colours are an Aran weight. I have included an estimated yarn weight in each variant listed, occasionally there may be batches of the same colour with different weights shown, but normally each colour will be of one weight.
Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry or dry clean - dryer only on delicate cycle
